Ground Improvements

Author: David Harman, 26/03/16

The Chairman is pleased announce the appointment of our first professional Groundsman and the installation of a new electronic scorebaord.

For the first time in the history of the club we have appointed the services of a fully qualified and skilled groundsman to maintain and look after the square and the preparation of wickets. We welcome Andrew Horsfield to his job with the club. Andrew has a wealth of experience at Earlestown and Newton-le-Willows CC’s and he is also currently employed as groundsman for Timperley CC. He will be supported with other maintenance and preparatory work on the ground and square by our 1st X1 Captain, Nick Hardman. To help Nick with his work, he will be attending a Cricket Spring and Summer Maintenance Training Course at Warrington CC on 5th April 2016. This course is delivered by The Institute of Groundsman (IOG). The IOG is the leading professional organisation for grounds management, recognised by the National Governing Bodies of Sport and the public, private and voluntary sectors for its industry knowledge and technical expertise.

A major investment by the club will see the installation of an electronic scoreboard this season. FSL Electronics have been awarded the work. They will design and manufacture a complete customised and bespoke cricket scoreboard to replace the existing fascia on our current scoreboard. The clarity of the LED digits will enhance player and spectator enjoyment and improve the sporting facilities of the club.
