If you have been to the club recently you will have noticed that a start has been made on the foundations for our new dressing rooms. All current players, former players and social members will shortly be receiving a request via email to help support an appeal for a donation to ‘Help Raise The Roof’ for the new build. EXCITING NEW CLUB FACILITIES ON THE HORIZON

If you have been to the club recently you will have noticed that a start has been made on the foundations for our new dressing rooms. All  current players, former players and social members will shortly be receiving a request via email to help support an  appeal  for a donation to ‘Help Raise The  Roof’  for the new build. It would be appreciated if you could please take time out to read this email and accompanying attachments.

THINKING BEHIND WOODHOUSES CC’S PROPOSED NEW FACILITIES

1. PHASE ONE -  NEW TEAM CHANGING ACCOMMODATION

1.1. The existing dressing rooms and showers are still in the clubhouse which was built in 1965. At that time the dressing rooms were fine but they now lack suitability and fitness of purpose for modern day usage and needs. There are major issues caused by location, layout and lack of space. New dressing rooms with support facilities are urgently needed to meet the changing demands and challenges of club cricket. We need to move with the times.

1.2. The new team changing accommodation with support facilities will be located on the site of the former ground equipment garage which was recently demolished to make way for the new build. Foundations for the new build are underway with brick and block work to follow on immediately. The club has not been able to access any grants for the new build so it is relying on club reserves carefully built up over many years for developments such as these. By the time the brick and block work is completed sometime in May   the club’s available funds will have run out.

1.3. It is essential that the build is made watertight as soon as possible after completion of the brickwork. The club urgently needs to find money to pay for all the roofing costs which will be in the region of £10000-£12000. It is this for this reason the club is seeking the valued support of all its members for the project. All the interior fitting out will be carried out later in the year as and when funds permit with the intention of having the new dressing rooms operational for the start of the 2019 season.

2. PHASE TWO - CLUBHOUSE ALTERATIONS

2.1. In the current climate it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise sufficient revenue to cover the ever increasing costs involved in running a successful local community cricket club in a small village. Members already fully support the club with membership fees and the varied fund-raising activities the club has in place but more is needed to sustain the running, maintenance and future development of the club.

2.2. The new build for the dressing rooms and showers presents the club with an ideal opportunity to optimise the best use of the space liberated in the clubhouse by their relocation to bring in much needed additional external revenue.

2.3. The club has drawn up detailed plans for major internal structural alterations and renovations in the clubhouse to create much needed additional capacity for more frequent social and community use. It will facilitate the generation of significant additional income through increased function hire trade business for celebration events. This project will make a huge difference to the future well-being and viability of the club. The club is optimistic that it can attract funding to cover all the costs of the proposed alterations details of which can be found in the attached layout plans illustrating our first thoughts on what they may look like. It is intended to carry out these works in January and February 2019 if the grant applications are successful.
